Riders hit the trails for the annual Big Dam Bridge 100

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Temperatures cooled down on Saturday just in time for the annual Big Dam Bridge 100.

Three thousand riders hit the road for the race representing 35 different states, five countries and a lot of cities in the Natural State.

This race is especially unique because the course goes over the Big Dam Bridge which is the longest bridge built specifically for cyclists, runners and walkers.

Temps were a bit lower and the rain got mostly out before the start of the race, but cyclists said the weather did bring some extra challenges.

“It was a light sprinkle early in the ride the main thing was the wind, it was gusting pretty good for a while, we had a little bit behind us for a short bit but it was a challenge,” cyclist Missy Roling said.

Cyclist could participate in a number of events, riding anywhere from 15 to 105 miles.

Proceeds from the race go to benefit the Big Dam Bridge Foundation which promotes the use, support and preservation of the bridge for health, fitness and recreational activities.
