SEARCY, Ark. – A Searcy family is still hoping for answers on the 30th anniversary of their loved one’s disappearance.

On Sept. 30, 1994, Sharon Green remembers watching her 20-year-old son Jarrod Green walk out of her home and never return.

“I miss him with all my heart,” Sharon Green said.

“At first, you think he was just, he was gone, you know, to spend the night with his friends, and you didn’t think much about it at first, but then when you can’t get a hold of him,” Sharon Green said.

Jarrod’s mom contacted his friends, but nobody knew where he was. That is when she contacted the Searcy Police Department to make a report about a missing person.

His sister remembers four days later, SPD found Jarrod’s car in the Searcy Walmart Supercenter, but not Jarrod.

“That’s when we knew it was very serious; he would have never left his car in that condition, with all the windows rolled down and the keys thrown up under the front seat; it just wasn’t something he would ever do,” Shannon Green said.

Family Waiting for Closure as Searcy Cold Case Seems to Grow Colder

“Not only have you lost a person, but you can never mourn them, and you can never even think about them without the blackness of the mystery that surrounds their loss,” Shannon Green said.

Thirty years later, the SPD has still been unable to find answers that would bring closure to the family.

“We are not giving up, I know they are not giving up and we are continuing our investigation,” SPD Lieutenant Todd Wells said.

Arrest Made in 1994 Cold Case

In 2017, an arrest was made in connection to the case. However, the charges were dropped. Police found through their investigation a development for the family that Jarrod was involved with drugs, which could be a factor in the case.

“We were shocked,” Sharon Green said.

“He was involved with drug trade; he was running with some people that were heavily involved in it, and we didn’t know, we didn’t know,” Shannon Green said.

After 30 years, the family said the only thing they wish they could tell Jarrod was how much they loved him no matter what.

“I’ve always, you know, I’ve felt like, ‘Did he suffer?’ ‘What did they do to him?’ and how scared he must have been, and it’s just more than a mother can really stand,” Sharron Green said. “I just pray that every day that someone will care enough to come forward.”

The family is offering a $25,000 reward for anyone with information. You can also call SPD to leave an anonymous tip at 501-268-3531.
