ALMA, Ark. – The Alma community said they are thankful for a development after police provided an update on the investigation into the 29-year-old disappearance of 6-year-old Morgan Nick.

Tuesday morning, the Alma Police Department announced they have named Billy Jack Lincks as a suspect in the Morgan Nick case. Authorities said Lincks died in prison in 2000 while he was in custody for a separate case.

Alma police give update on Morgan Nick case, say DNA found in truck links Billy Jack Lincks as suspect

Lincks is said to have been the driver of the red truck Nick was believed to have been taken in from the ballpark, and police say they have confirmed that hair found in that truck links back to the Nick family, likely Morgan Nick.

In the small Alma community, everyone who spoke with KARK 4 News said that their hearts go out to the Nick family, especially her mom, Colleen, who’s been searching for her daughter every day since she disappeared.

Lisa Neihouse, a mother and teacher at Alma High School right next to where Morgan went missing, said, “No mother should have to bear this.”

“As the days and the months and the years went by and I had my own children it took on such a sadness and heaviness,” Neihouse said.

Neihouse streamed the conference in her classroom Tuesday morning for her students to watch, considering they have grown up hearing about this case. Down the street in Alma, business owners say they also streamed the press conference inside their stores.

“We’re just glad Colleen and the family’s finally getting some closure, and we’re sorry it ended up being so long to get this closure,” Judy Becker, who works at a resale shop in town, said.

Becker and Neihouse say are praying for the Nick family and want to thank the Alma Police Department for their tireless work.
