BRYANT, Ark. – Hurricane Helene ripped through homes and left people displaced throughout the American southeast, and now one business in Bryant is doing what it can to give those victims a place to stay.

Michael McNamara, owner of Suite Spot Camper Rental, has been sending out campers to places dealing with natural disasters since Hurricane Katrina. Around 100 campers are now being sent to different states to help the victims of Helene.

“We’re going down to North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Florida and then we’re loading the campers down with essentials that the people aren’t able to go to the gas station to get,” McNamara said. “Batteries, flashlights, generators.”

Supplies are being gathered at different locations across the state, like I Heart Mac & Cheese in Benton, Another Man’s Treasure in Bauxite and any Hotworx location in the state.

Julia Rose, the manager at the Hotworx in Benton, said it’s fulfilling to offer help to a community from states away.

“If we can bring a little bit of peace and a little bit of ease to those that definitely need it right now, then we’d love to be able to help,” Rose said.

How Helene became the near-perfect storm to bring widespread destruction across the South

McNamara will be sending five or 10 campers down at a time. He said they’re not just for the families rebuilding what’s been lost, but the rescue workers and contractors helping put the pieces back together.

“To be able to have these campers in the off-season, to be able to go somewhere to help and be an asset to somebody is amazing,” McNamara said.
