    Teen dies after being struck by train in Beebe

    BEEBE, Ark. – Police in Beebe confirmed that a 15-year-old boy has died after being struck by a train Thursday morning.

    According to the Beebe Police Department, officers with the city and the Beebe School District Police Department were notified of a crash on the train tracks near Railroad Street around 9:35 a.m.

    In a statement sent Thursday afternoon, Union Pacific Railroad officials said the incident happened near South Fir Street and Idaho Street but noted that the it did not happen in a crossing.

    After arriving on the scene, officers said they found the teen, who was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.

    Officials have not identified the child or released any additional details surrounding the crash.

    Officials with the Beebe School District released the following statement:

    “It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of a freshman at Beebe High School. He was a cherished member of our Beebe School District family, and his loss deeply affects our entire community.

    The student’s family has been informed, and at this time, the Union Pacific Railroad Police are leading the investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragedy.

    Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends during this incredibly difficult time. We extend our heartfelt condolences and support to all who are grieving.

    In times of loss, it is important to come together. Counseling services will be available for students and parents who need support. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you or your child would like to speak with someone.

    We encourage everyone to support one another during this difficult time.”

    Didn’t happen at a crossing. That means he jumped the tracks intentionally or by accident assuming he was in a vehicle. Much left out here. RIP
