LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The American Red Cross has Arkansas boots on the ground in response to back-to-back hurricanes in the southeast United States.

The American Red Cross of Missouri and Arkansas region is reporting that 96 disaster relief responders are deployed. The breakdown is 77 from Missouri and 19 from Arkansas, deployed to Florida, North Carolina and Tennessee.

Officials said the Greater Arkansas Red Cross chapter has 16 people deployed in response.

Hurricane Helene hit the region after its Sept. 26 landfall, followed by the powerful Hurricane Milton on Oct. 17. As recovery begins, impacted areas continue to report a need for food and shelter.

Red Cross officials said they sent tens of thousands of ready-to-eat meals, cots, blankets, and other supplies to Flordia in advance of Milton, on top of what was already sent in response to Helene. The agency has also shipped blood products to Florida hospitals.

As conditions improve, officials said Red Cross emergency response vehicles would begin traveling through affected neighborhoods to deliver supplies and support.

The Red Cross offers three ways to help in its relief mission: financial donations, volunteering, and giving blood.

Financial donations can be made through RedCross.org or by calling 1-800-733-2767. Donations can also be made by texting HURRICANES to 90999.

Make blood donation appointments at RedCrossBlood.org or the Red Cross blood donor app. Officials said the Red Cross provides about 40% of the nation’s blood supply.
