    Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders authorizes more than $380,000 for disaster relief

    LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Arkansas officials said Friday that they are allocating more funding to deal with the costs of relief from a series of natural disasters that happened over the last three years.

    Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders signed three executive orders on Friday authorizing $380,145.63 for disaster relief. The orders obligated the funding from the Governor’s Disaster Response and Recovery Fund.

    The first was in response to severe weather that crossed the state on Dec. 10 & 11, 2021 . Funding was obligated during the disasters, but the Friday executive order provides an additional $108,376.50.

    In the second instance, an additional $61,769.13 was authorized to a previous executive order to recover from March 1, 2023, severe weather .

    The third instance was due to wildfires in New Mexico on June 19. According to the executive order, Arkansas responded to the fires through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC), a federal program providing interstate mutual aid. According to the order, the governor authorized $210,000 to defray EMAC and administrative costs.
