LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A Saline County man will serve more than a decade and a half in federal prison for illegally possessing firearms as a felon.

According to a release from federal prosecutors, 43-year-old Jason Davis, a multi-convicted felon, was sentenced on Wednesday to 188 months for being a felon in possession of a firearm as well as having a sawed-off shotgun. He will also serve five years of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system.

Prosecutors noted Davis will begin serving this sentence after he finishes serving his current six-year sentence for first-degree domestic battery, which began in 2023.

On May 3, 2023, officials said the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission received a call about four people trespassing on private property in Saline County. AGFC officers said they spoke with the four suspects and identified Davis as the owner of the vehicle on the property.

While speaking with the suspects, AGFC officers said they saw a sawed-off 20-gauge shotgun in the driver’s seat of the car. The officers said they then found 20-gauge shells in the car matching the live round in the shotgun.

Prosecutors said Davis was indicted on June 6, 2023, and later pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a sawed-off shotgun on Oct. 16, 2024.
