ST. LOUIS – A Missouri lottery player from Defiance has won $50,000 from a Powerball Prize drawn on April 27. The winning Quick Pick ticket was purchased at Double D Market, located at 1300 Highway DD in Defiance.

The ticket matched four out of the five white-ball numbers drawn and the Powerball number, resulting in a $50,000 prize in the April 27 drawing. The winning numbers on April 27 were 9, 30, 53, 55, and 62, with a Powerball number of 23.

The prize was claimed at the Missouri Lottery St. Louis office on May 6. Powerball is a multi-state Draw Game with drawings held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays at around 10 p.m.

The odds of winning a Powerball jackpot are approximately 1 in 292.2 million, while the likelihood of securing Mega Millions’ top prize is even slimmer, at about 1 in 302.6 million.

State-run games typically favor the house, ensuring profitability for the organizers. Various lottery games boast differing rules, odds, and prize structures, influencing the likelihood of winning.

Typically, the chances of winning a prize, even if it’s a small one, outweigh the odds of hitting the jackpot.
