ST. LOUIS – The last of four men involved in the fatal robbery of a St. Louis County cab driver was sentenced on Monday in U.S. federal court.

Prosecutors with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Missouri said Tywon Harris, now 21, “took the lead in planning” to rob cab driver Dewight Price on April 24, 2022.

Harris was with Jeremiah Allen, now 20, Trishawn Jones, now 20, and Coron Dees, now 21, when they left a party downtown around 5:30 a.m. The group stopped at a gas station and Harris called for a taxi, planning on going to a fake address near Allen’s home, and to run away without paying.

When they learned that they would have to pay for the ride in advance, the group began plotting how they would rob Price.

They told Price to drive to Hazelwood Central High School, thinking there would be no witnesses there at that time. Dees and Jones then robbed Price at gunpoint. Price begged the teens not to shoot him then grabbed a firearm he had stashed in his door.

Allen told the group about Price’s gun beforehand. Price tried getting out of his cab, but Harris opened his door, knocking Price to the ground.

Jones saw Price’s weapon and shot Price in his torso. The four then fled the scene.

All four defendants were arrested within the next few days.

Harris and Jones each pleaded guilty to one count of aiding and abetting in the commission of the murder. Dees and Allen each pleaded guilty to a robbery charge.

A U.S. District Court judge sentenced Harris to 30 years in federal prison.

Dees was previously sentenced to 17 years in prison; Jones received 22 years in prison; and Allen was sentenced to 12.5 years.
