ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged a Southwest employee at St. Louis Lambert International Airport with allegedly stealing hundreds of flight vouchers using passenger names.

According to the Airport Police Department, between Aug. 1, 2023, and Sept. 28, 2023, Southwest conducted an in-house investigation and found one of its customer service agents printed the vouchers using the names of previous passengers and then redeeming those vouchers for himself.

A Southwest investigator said Brooklyn Jones (age not provided) wrote a statement confessing to the thefts and was willing to surrender the vouchers he had.

Police escorted Jones to his locker at the airport, where he surrendered 119 travel vouchers to the Southwest investigator. The vouchers were worth $36,300.

After his arrest, Jones said in an interview with police that no one taught him how to produce the vouchers, and he believed he was the only one doing it at Lambert. He also confessed to producing $79,000 worth of flight vouchers.

Police said Jones had received money for the flight vouchers on four separate occasions.

FOX 2 reached out to Southwest Airlines about the theft. An airline spokesperson confirmed Jones was no longer a Southwest employee but offered no additional comment.

Jones was issued a criminal summons to appear in court on September 16.
