ST. LOUIS – Back to School is kicking off in a big way as KidSmart hosted its fourth annual “Ready for Back to School $1 Million Distribution Day” in downtown St. Louis on Friday.

The event occurred on Clark Avenue, basically right between Busch Stadium and Ballpark Village. The event started at 8 a.m. and will continue until around 5pm Friday.

Teachers who pre-registered are coming down Clark Avenue in their cars and their vehicles are being packed up with all kinds of school supplies.

Through the event, one thousand teachers will receive $1,000 each of free school supplies and educational resources.

Today’s effort will help ensure that 30,000 kids in need will be ready to succeed in school.

Teachers at the event called the initiative critical to helping students get the school year started in a positive fashion.

KidSmart organizers are praising their many corporate partners and community volunteers for helping to make the event happen by donating supplies and their time at the event today.
