ST. LOUIS — The 2024 Olympics has wrapped up, but some of the world’s best athletes have yet to compete in Paris this summer.

The 2024 Paralympics runs from August 28th to September 8th in France. This summer’s games will be the 17th edition of the Paralympics.

One athlete from the St. Louis area will participate in his third Paralympics. Godfrey, IL native Eric Newby is co-captain of the USA Wheelchair Rugby team.

Eric has medaled twice at the Paralympics, earning silver medals in 2016 and 2020. He found wheelchair rugby after a tragic car accident on the night of his high school graduation left him paralyzed.

Eric shared his story with Fox 2 Sports reporter Kevin Ryans.
