ARNOLD, Mo. – It’s back to school for Jefferson County’s largest school district, as thousands of students head back to the Fox C-6 School District Tuesday.

The Fox C-6 School District 1,300 student across 11 elementary schools, 4 middle schools, two high schools, and an early childhood center within the district.

Band members and cheerleaders welcomed students as they arrived for the start of school. Classes at Fox High School, just off Jeffco Boulevard, began at 7 a.m. Tuesday morning, and students will see some new additions from the district’s Prop-P project.

The project was a $40 million no-tax increase bond issue that voters passed in 2020. It has helped in the construction of many new facilities in the district, including a new library at Seckman Middle School and new additions at Antonia Elementary, Meramec Heights Elementary, and Fox High School.

Fox C-6 officials say Prop-P has been paying real dividends. School officials are saying that the initiative has brought on additions that are “gamechangers.”

There are also new turf fields being put in at both Seckman and Fox High Schools. Officials say the old fields were 14 to 15 years old, and the heavy rains in July did significant damage to them. Both fields should be done in September.

Staffing is also a challenge in this district, like in so many other places. Fox C-6 Superintendent Paul Fregeau says they are down 8 to 10 bus drivers. As the school year gets underway, the district will have to see how those challenges play out.
