Pedestrian fatally hit by tractor trailer in St. Peters

ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. – A Winfield man was fatally struck by a tractor trailer in St. Peters early Monday morning.

The accident happened a little before 3 a.m. Monday morning on eastbound Interstate-70, west of Mid Rivers Mall Drive.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the driver of the tractor trailer was traveling eastbound in the second lane of I-70 when he saw a man walking in the same lane. The driver attempted to swerve left to avoid the man but still struck him.

The victim, Conner R. Lipp, 23, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lanes on eastbound I-70 were closed for an extended period of time Monday morning as crews investigated and cleared the scene.
