ST. LOUIS – Brady Cook, a St. Louis-raised quarterback entering his senior year with the Missouri Tigers, has landed an endorsement deal with Sugarfire Smokehouse.
A new partnership allows Sugarfire to use the name, image and likeness of Cook to promote its St. Louis-styled barbecue. Cook will appear on various forms of advertising for Sugarfire throughout the upcoming football season.
“I think Brady could probably be a Heisman candidate (and) I think Mizzou could be a contender for a national championship. Hopefully it’s a perfect storm, everything works out, Mizzou wins a lot of games, and the deal works out for us,” Sugarfire Smokehouse franchise owner Matt Martin said.
Sugarfire says Cook’s family ties make the partnership valuable. His father, Jim, and uncle own three of the 14 franchise locations in Missouri, including the St. Louis area.
“Teaming up with Brady for the 2024 college football season is exciting,” Martin added. “He has always been a part of the family. We are extremely proud of his accomplishments on and off the field and can’t think of a better COOK to add to our team.”
Starting Thursday, fans will be able to enjoy a Sugarfire “Cook Combo,” which will consist of two meats, three sides, a smoked chocolate chip cookie, and a drink for just $21.99.
Throughout the season, Cook and Johnson will collaborate to create new specials for fans and barbeque lovers. The partnership says they’re also dedicated to giving back to the community. They already raised funds for “Andrews Hugs,” a local non-profit dedicated to enriching the lives of people with disabilities.
“Sugarfire’s had my back since day one and they are family,” said Brady Cook. “Aside from serving the best BBQ in St. Louis, they do so much for our community, which is something I appreciate and align with. It’s special to have them along for the ride this season.”
With expectations high for the Tigers this season, their well-fed and well-compensated quarterback is ready to serve up the championship season Mizzou fans crave.
“I think Brady’s just tickled pink to be representing Sugar Fire here in St. Louis. To be finding a company and a company his family’s been involved with that, as he says, kind of mirrors the same traits he has,” Jim Cook said.
Cook, an alum of Chaminade College Preparatory School in St. Louis County, is Mizzou’s starting quarterback for the third consecutive season, last year leading the Tigers to a Cotton Bowl win over the Ohio State Buckeyes. In 13 games last season, he threw 20 touchdowns and averaged more than 240 passing yards per game.
