ST. LOUIS – A St. Louis Circuit Court judge signed an arrest warrant for a grocery store employee accused of stealing thousands of dollars’ worth of lottery tickets from the store.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department’s probable cause statement, the theft occurred at the Save A Lot store on Riverview Boulevard in the Baden neighborhood.

Police said that Missouri Lottery officials informed Save A Lot management that about $14,000 worth of tickets had activated in a short period of time. Store personnel reviewed surveillance video and saw Candice Ward, 43, activate the tickets and leave the store with them.

The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office charged Ward with stealing – $750 or more. Her arrest warrant carries a $5,000 cash-only bond.
