ST. LOUIS – Lindell Boulevard along the northern end of Forest Park is home to some of the nicest-looking mansions in St. Louis, each uniquely majestic in their own way.
One of those elegant homes, now on the market, has some historic roots—both figuratively and literally—as part of its story.
The land is part of St. Louis history, as it was once home to the 1904 World’s Fair Japanese Garden Exhibit.
The backyard is its own peaceful paradise, with Japanese lanterns, a Wheel of Great Compassion, a meditation hill, and a pagoda-style pool house with a steep-sloped hip-and-gable roof (known as irimoya in Japanese).
The Japanese influence continues inside the home. The grand foyer and its circular staircase are punctuated with a John-Richards-Japanese Wisteria chandelier, and the wallpaper in the main bedroom is adorned with large cranes.
