ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – Authorities busted two people who attempted to sell appliances they allegedly stole from a St. Louis County home on Facebook Marketplace.

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has charged Casey Albrecht, 40, of St. Louis, and Johnny Miller, 52, of Oklahoma City, each with stealing ($750 or more), second-degree burglary and resisting arrest amid the investigation.

According to court documents obtained by FOX 2, Albrecht and Miller went into a home Wednesday in the 6400 block of Weber Road and took pictures of various appliances with the intent to list and sell them through Facebook Marketplace.

Investigators say that Albrecht and Miller planned to sell the homeowner’s appliances and keep the money.

By nighttime, an anonymous person informed police of a suspicious Facebook Marketplace post. Police learned of a refrigerator listed for sale at the home on Weber Road.

Court documents state, as police arrived to the home, Albrecht and Miller tried to run away from the home. Officers stopped both after a brief foot chase. Around that time, Miller reportedly made a spontaneous statement saying, “The door was open. We did not break it.”

Police later searched inside the home and found that the victim’s electric stove was missing and that a refrigerator was already on a dolly to be moved. Investigators learned that the electric stove was already sold.

Court documents did not reveal whether Albrecht and Miller were known to the homeowner who was victim to the Facebook Marketplace scheme.

Albrecht and Miller were booked into the St. Louis County Jail on $150,000 cash-only bonds. Both have preliminary hearings scheduled for Sept. 25.
