Gov. Parson highlights economic investments at conference in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS – Missouri Gov. Mike Parson attended the annual Governor’s Conference on Economic Development in the Central West End Thursday.

Parson delivered the keynote address at the Chase Park Plaza. The conference is held each year for industry experts to share updates on latest economic development issues, strategies, and initiatives.

The governor noted that throughout his six years serving in his position, he has continued the mission to strengthen Missouri’s economy.

“Missouri has had a unique opportunity over the last six years, everybody is looking to come to the middle of the United States like never before in our country’s history. We all know that the things that occur on the east coast and west coast are very difficult to do business…a lot are coming to the Midwest right now,” Parson said.

He states that he has invested in roads, bridges, rail lines, and other forms of transportation, as well as ways to attract new businesses while retaining existing ones.

“When you think about all the bridge improvements we made—Interstate 70, airports between Kansas City, St. Louis, and Columbia—those things are the hub of who you are in your cities and our state—that’s why people come to our state,” he said.

Parson’s administration has repaired and replaced around 140 bridges and thousands of miles of roads, according to the governor. He also touted having cut the income tax rate five times.
