ST. LOUIS – A woman appeared in court on Friday for shooting a co-worker outside of a Family Dollar store last year.

According to the Circuit Attorney’s Office of the City of St. Louis, Myah Blankinship, 22, pleaded guilty for shooting her coworker in the 2700 block of North Florissant Avenue on September 26, 2023.

Blankinship and her co-worker had been involved in an ongoing conflict leading up to the day of the shooting when an argument turned into a physical fight.

The Circuit Attorney’s Office said surveillance video captured Blankinship’s co-worker leaving the store after the fight, and Blakinship pulled out a handgun from her purse.

Blankinship shot her co-worker in the head, fracturing her jaw. The co-worker’s young son and nephew were standing next to her when she was shot.

According to the Circuit Attorney’s Office, Blankinship pleaded guilty to first-degree assault, armed criminal action, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

She faces between 10 and 30 years in prison or life without the possibility of parole for the assault charge. Up to 15 years in prison for armed criminal action and up to a year in jail on each of the child endangerment charges.

Excuse me. I'm here fiancee and you got a few things wrong in this article. you're lucky I don't take legal action. She only got sentenced to the minimum and the incident wasn't from some long standing feud. I would know I worked there and still remain colleagues with ppl that do. There was no issue with her and the victim. The issue was brought about bcuz the victims sister was the one arguing with her until the victim stepped in on behalf of her sister. Get the facts straight or next time I'll be calling a lawyer for whoever is trying to diminish her with false news.
