ST. LOUIS – After a gorgeous weekend with highs maxing out in the mid 70s each day, we begin another warm-up for Monday and the work week.

First, we have one more cool/chilly morning out there with temperatures in the 40s and 50s. We are also watching for patchy fog to develop.

Highs Monday will be in the low 80s, and we’ll have plenty of sunshine; however, we also may notice some wildfire smoke overhead.

Temperatures into Tuesday should reach the upper 80s, but another round of wildfire smoke may impact the region once again, which could cause this number to be a bit lower. Highs on Wednesday are forecast in the low 90s.

FOX 2 Weather

By Thursday there is more uncertainty in the forecast due to the potential arrival of the tropical disturbance that is in the western Gulf of Mexico. This storm will likely become our next named system…Francine.

Francine is forecast to make landfall midweek along the Texas and/or Louisiana coastline and then continue northeast as it weakens. The track of this system will ultimately determine whether or not we get rain late this week.

Chances right now appear highest in southeast MO and southern IL but model runs have been moving this track around and it’s still too early.

At the very least, we will get an increase in cloud cover, which will lower our temperatures late in the week and into the weekend.
