FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. — A 19-year-old man was arrested following a violent home invasion last month in Fairview Heights, Illinois. Markeithion Moore now faces multiple felony charges, including home invasion and aggravated battery of a peace officer.

According to the Fairview Heights Police Department, officers responded to a reported home invasion on Stites Avenue at approximately 2:15 a.m. on on August 28. Moore allegedly entered the home through a window and beat the victim several times before leaving with a stolen cell phone.

Moore was found in September at a nearby business using the stolen phone’s tracking feature. When officers approached him, he spit on them and ran. Police say they had to use a Taser to place him under arrest.

Police say that Moore is well-known to them for violent crimes. He is currently being held at the St. Clair County Jail pending his court date.
