ST. LOUIS – St. Louis City SC’s opponents want to know: How do you stop João Klauss in his tracks? On Tuesday, it was with puppies.

“I have Klauss here today,” City SC’s forward said, holding a puppy. “If people want to adopt Klauss an amazing dog. They have a lot of dogs here. In our family, I can promise you they bring more and more love to the home. You need time to take care of them and walk with them, but they change the whole energy of the house.”

City SC players João Klauss, Nökkvi Thórisson, and Simon Becher, were all positive feelings during their stop at Care STL Animal Shelter. The soccer stars received a surprise during their visit for dog and puppy playtime: newly rescued puppies named Klauss Jr., Simon, and Nökkvi.

“They’re just pure. They just ooze love. They’re like your best friend and it doesn’t matter what kind of day you had; they’re always happy,” Thórisson said.

Care STL Animal Shelter is the city’s animal shelter, accepting homeless, abused, neglected, injured, and surrendered animals across the city.

“Of course, fostering and adoption is amazing,” Abbey Ayala, Care STL’s director of community programs, said. “We have about nine dogs in our building right now that was built for 61. So, if we can get more of those animals into homes, that is our ultimate goal.”
