ST. LOUIS – It’s been a hit-and-miss season for the Cardinals in 2024.

“Some days we’re good,” Cardinals fan Vishal Patel said. “Some days we’re bad.”

The Redbirds are quite a bit better than they were last year, already winning a few more games this season than they did last. However, it’s the scene off the field that’s making headlines.

“(Busch Stadium) was pretty empty,” Cardinals fan Kaitlyn Schwarz told FOX 2 after Thursday’s game.

Attendance at Busch Stadium has hit record lows this season .

“When you’re finally starting to see attendance drop, that should be what tells you where this team is headed,” Patel explained.

Following Thursday’s win, the Cardinals sat six games back with just 16 games of the season left.

Haley Smith lives downtown and said despite the team’s poor play, she’ll continue to support the franchise as it looks to rebuild.

“I’m always going to support St. Louis,” Smith said. “It’s going to take time. I don’t think it’s something that is going to change right off the jump; it’s something that’s going to happen over time.”
