ST. LOUIS – A Haney Hills man was charged after a road rage pursuit incident ended in a shooting in north St. Louis.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department’s probable cause statement, the shooting happened on September 5 on the 4900 block of Natural Bridge Road in the Kingsway East neighborhood.

The pursuit began after the victim cut the suspect off at Kinghighway Boulevard and St. Louis Avenue. Police say Marquise A. Thomas, 28, got out of his car, and the two got into an argument before the victim drove off.

According to authorities, Thomas allegedly began following the victim to several locations throughout north St. Louis before he shot out the back window of the victim’s black Jeep Liberty when they reached the 4900 block of Natural Bridge Road.

After the shooting, the victim traveled to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department’s North Patrol Division on the 4000 block of Union for safety and also reported the crime.

The Real Time Crime Center was able to identify the vehicle Thomas was driving, and he was later stopped by authorities after they marked his car as wanted.

According to authorities, when police read Thomas his Miranda rights, he admitted that he was involved in the shooting but claimed that he was the one being followed.

The victim identified Thomas in a photo array, and surveillance later showed the incident and the moments Thomas got out of his vehicle.

I saw someone at the picklemans at laclede pull a gun on a homeless man just to make him do what they wanted while the police stood by…. I asked them why they wouldn’t engage…. “Politics” was the response I was given. Since the suspects were black and the homeless man was white he said he couldn’t help… we watched as they bullied him at gunpoint then taunted him with food….. then his girlfriend…then they took off and left him crying. The most fucked up thing I seen in this city. And it was yesterday at 8:45 pm. Man needs justice but nobody gonna help him…. What a world
