ST. LOUIS – A 58-year-old woman is recovering from injuries after she was robbed and assaulted with a brick on her front porch.

According to police, the assault happened after 8:30 p.m. Sunday evening on the 5500 block of W. Florissant in the city’s Walnut Park East neighborhood.

The woman told police she was sitting on her front porch when a man and woman approached her from her walkway and asked for money. After the woman said she did not have any money, both suspects reportedly began punching her.

Police said during the assault, the male suspect repeatedly struck her with a brick, causing numerous bruises and a laceration to her arm.

According to police, the suspects eventually took money from the woman and fled on foot.

EMS responded to the assault and transported her to a local hospital for treatment. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
