Body found in Macoupin County home; deputies investigate

SAWYERVILLE, Ill. – The Macoupin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a death after a body was found inside a home in Sawyerville, Illinois, Tuesday evening.

A 911 call requested deputy assistance for an unspecified incident at a home on Mine Road and Clark Street. Deputies discovered a body at the residence. The sheriff’s office is not yet ready to release information about the victim or incident until they understand more about what happened.

“There’s no danger. We have the scene secured and there’s no danger to any of the public at this point,” Macoupin County Sheriff Shawn Kahl said.

Deputies are conducting interviews and canvassing the area, Kahl said. The sheriff’s office is urging anyone with information to come forward by calling 217-854-3135 (ext. 1).

Sawyerville is located approximately an hour north of St. Louis.
