ST. LOUIS – Rain and strong winds from the remnants of Hurricane Helene are impacting weekend plans for some people, while others said rain or shine, they won’t see a delay.

Organizers with Evolution Festival said Friday the hours of constant rainfall will not impact the weekend-long festival.

“We’re going to get a little wind today; we could get a fence that may blow over, but as you can see, the stage is totally done. We’re waiting for the bands tomorrow morning,” Steve Schankman, co-producer of Evolution Festival, said.

SLPS Superintendent Dr. Keisha Scarlett fired by school board

Schankman said they’re expecting tens of thousands of people over the weekend.

“My favorite thing is seeing like last year 25,000 people having a great time. The food, the atmosphere, the art, the music, and all the things that go with it,” he added. “We have a lot of friends coming in from out of town that have booked rooms from New Orleans; we’ve got some from Florida for obvious reasons, but come out and have a great time.”

Fans for another big event were not as lucky though.

World Wide Technology Raceway announced the inclement weather canceled racing for the NHRA Midwest Nationals on Friday. Officials said they expect racing to take place on Saturday and Sunday.
