Woman killed in Jefferson County crash Thursday

WINDSOR TOWNSHIP, Mo. — A fatal two-vehicle crash occurred on Thursday afternoon on Highway 61 at Village Plaza in Jefferson County.

The collision involved a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Jane E. Birkenbach, 71, of Arnold and a 2011 Dodge Ram. According to the crash report, Birkenbach failed to yield and pulled into the path of Wilson’s vehicle. The truck hit the left side of Birkenbach’s eastbound Chevrolet Malibu.

Birkenbach was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:23 p.m. The driver of the Dodge Ram has minor injuries and was taken to an area hospital.
