Woman dies in crash near St. Clair, Mo; car overturns into river

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Mo. – A woman was pronounced dead Sunday evening after a fatal accident near St. Clair.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Jody A. Pierce, 41, of Salem, Missouri was driving north on Oak Grove Church Road north of Mill Hill Road when Donald A. Pierce, 45, of Union, Missouri, struck her vehicle from behind.

After her vehicle was struck, her car crossed into the oncoming lane and began to overturn, hitting a tree. Her vehicle then traveled into a nearby river, where she was later pronounced dead at 5 p.m.

According to MSHP, Donald left the scene of the crash. The investigation is ongoing. FOX 2 will update this story as information comes into the newsroom.
