Cooler temperatures ahead, frost concerns midweek

A cold front is almost through the region and this will bring back cooler temperatures. Highs for Sunday in the mid to upper 70s along with gusty northwesterly winds. Fire danger is elevated across the area through the afternoon. Overnight lows cool into the low to mid 40s and some areas may even see the 30s. Highs on Monday in the lower half of the 60s. We’ll also see an increase in clouds, especially high cloud cover. Highs continue in the 60s through Wednesday and overnight lows remain cold.

Tuesday night into Wednesday morning and Wednesday night into Thursday morning are the coldest of the stretch with lows in the 30s area wide. The metro should stay above freezing but widespread frost is expected along with areas of freezing temperatures outside of the metro, especially in some of our more rural communities. We’ll warm up gradually later in the week. Highs return to around 70 by Friday.
