The ‘Bubblehead family’ in Florissant: A St. Louis urban legend

ST. LOUIS COUNTY – It’s a sad, yet somewhat true story that lurks down a secluded North County road near the Missouri river.

“The Bubblehead Family” called a house at the end of Carrico Road in Florissant their home. The family, according to urban legend , were alleged victims of government chemical testing and had enlarged heads.

Despite this, other sources believe the family had a son who had hydrocephalus, which is the buildup of fluid in the brain leading to an enlarged or deformed head.

The family allegedly kept their son at home at all times and eventually moved out of the home.

Still, this urban legend lingers, as visitors to the road have seen several no-trespassing signs, and some have been allegedly chased by strange figures lurking in the surrounding wooded areas.

I used to go there in the 80s early 90s You take a car load of girls down that dead end road while you tell the story about a whole family of Bubble Heads that killed their caretakers and roamed the woods. Right when you get to the bottom and the girls are really scared You reach your arm out the window and start banging on the roof The girls would start Screaming and Crying then you take of like a bat out of hell. Works Every Time And Makes You A Hero when you get them back home safe and sound
