    Man threatens, steals from victims met on social media: Police

    ST. LOUIS – A 24-year-old man appeared in court Friday after threatening and stealing from two victims he met on social media.

    According to court documents, Jerred Nathaniel Shannon, 24, used an app on September 14 to steal from two victims in the city’s Dutchtown and North Pointe neighborhoods.

    Authorities said Shannon used the app to meet up with the first victim in the 3500 block of Delor Street in Dutchtown. When he met with the victim, he threatened them with a firearm and demanded the victim give their car keys to him.

    After the victim refused and pushed Shannon’s firearm away, Shannon shot the victim in the leg and fled. Authorities said the victim was taken to the hospital due to the gunshot wound.

    On the same day, Shannon used the same app to meet up with a different victim at the Park Lane and Gladys Avenue intersection in North Pointe. Again, Shannon threatened the second victim with his firearm and demanded their car keys.

    The second victim handed over their car keys, and Shannon fled in the victim’s car. Authorities said after the victim’s car was later used in a retail theft case in St. Louis County.

    After officers met with the two victims separately, they both identified Shannon in a photo lineup.

    Shannon appeared is currently on probation and appeared in court on Friday for a pre-trail assessment. He has been charged with one count of first-degree assault, three counts of armed criminal action, and two counts of first-degree robbery.
