MISSOURI – Governor Mike Parson has ordered U.S. and Missouri flags to be flown at half-staff on Saturday at government buildings in St. Charles County and emergency medical stations in Missouri.

Flags will be flown at half-staff to honor 27-year-old Michael R. Clarke, a St. Charles County Ambulance District paramedic.

Paramedic dies unexpectedly on duty in St. Peters

Clarke had been a licensed paramedic since September 30, 2022, and joined the St. Charles County Ambulance District on November 11, 2022. Clarke was found unresponsive in an ambulance district bedroom after he did not respond to a call early in the morning on October 11.

After an attempt to resuscitate him, he was transported to a hospital but did not survive.

“Paramedic Michael Clarke loved working as a paramedic, had compassion for the people he treated, and was honored earlier this year for saving the life of a patient in cardiac arrest,” Parson said.
