    Widespread damage across Green Country after severe storms blow through

    The FOX23 Severe Weather Team is tracking severe weather in Green Country.

    From Saturday night into Sunday morning, tornados touched down in the FOX23 viewing area.

    In Mayes County, multiple homes and structures were reported damaged around Pryor and Salina with two confirmed deaths and several injuries. A secondary search will take place Sunday morning at 7 a.m.

    The Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management (OEM) says the State Emergency Operations Center remains activated. OEM is working with emergency managers from cities, counties and Tribal Nations across the state in recovery efforts.

    There is heavy damage in Rogers County, where officials report damage to homes, structures and power lines in and around Claremore. Officials say as of 7 a.m., there were 23 storm-related injuries with 19 transported to local hospitals and three with life-threatening injuries in Claremore. Claremore Police say the city is closed to traffic until noon on Sunday.

    The American Red Cross has opened evacuation centers to provide comfort and care for people impacted by severe weather.

    OEM provided a list of storm reports for other counties that were hit.

    • As of 3 a.m. Sunday, the Delaware County Emergency Management reports damage to homes, trees and powerlines in southern Delaware County.
    • In Nowata County, trees in the Wann area were reported damaged. One power pole is down with a downed tree entangled in the power lines.
    • Owasso Emergency Management reports utility poles down, but no structure damage or injuries.

    OEM also provided a list of power outages as of 3 a.m. At the peak, more than 24,000 outages were reported statewide. As of 9:00 a.m., approximately 8,400 outages remain.

    The Grand River Dam Authority and its electricity communities are continuing to asses damages and make repairs.
