    OHP: Spavinaw man not dead following Mayes Co. crash, admitted to hospital with injuries

    UPDATE (8/15/24) — Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) said a Spavinaw man did not pass away following a single-vehicle crash in Mayes County on Wednesday after it was reported he was pronounced dead while being flown to a hospital.

    On Thursday, OHP said Dean Camren of Spavinaw, the driver of the vehicle, did not pass away and has been admitted to a Tulsa hospital with head, trunk internal and trunk external injuries.

    FOX23 reported OHP's original report on Wednesday that said Camren was pronounced dead while being flown to a hospital.


    MAYES COUNTY, Okla. — Dean Camren of Spavinaw was pronounced dead while being flown to a hospital following a single-vehicle crash in Mayes County on Wednesday.

    Oklahoma Highway Patrol said the crash happened a little before 5 p.m. on Indian Springs Road at Northeast 455 Drive near Spavinaw in Mayes County.

    Two other people were in the vehicle. One was flown to a Tulsa hospital in stable condition and the other person was taken by ambulance to a Tulsa hospital but was later released with minor injuries.

    OHP is still investigating the cause of the crash.
