Tickets on sale for 'Badges, Beer & BBQ' fundraising event for Tulsa Crime Stoppers

TULSA, Okla. — It’s time to crack open a cold one and have all you can eat barbecue for a good cause.

Tulsa Crime Stoppers is having it’s annual fundraiser called “Badges, Beer & BBQ” on September 14 at Chandler Park.

"This year we are changing our venue and we are moving out to Chandler Park to the lower level, which is brand spanking new and it's a gorgeous side of the skyline downtown,” Executive Director Karen Gilbert said.

Crime Stoppers is a nonprofit organization, so fundraising is vital to keep the operation running.

"This fundraiser helps us with our tip line, our 596-COPS number. We have to pay for that tip line,” Gilbert said.

The money raised also helps fund the organization’s crime prevention programs.

A ticket to the fundraising event will get you all the barbecue you can eat prepared by several teams of local first responders.

Each team is looking for bragging rights, as attendees will vote on the “People’s Choice Award.”

There will also be plenty of local beer on hand.

Local country artist, Jacob Tovar, will also be there performing live music.

“It's just a lot of fun,” said  Gilbert. “I mean you don't have to dress up. It's just a simple picnic."

Tickets are $75 per person or $50 if you are a first responder.
