Owasso shares new student attendance football game policy

OWASSO, Okla. — Owasso Public Schools announced a new policy for students attending high school football games this season.

Starting this season, students 8th grade and under must be accompanied by an adult to enter the stadium.

OPS asks parents to not drop off students at the gate on Friday nights. This new policy was made to ensure the safety of younger students, OPS said.

OPS also reminded parents and guardians of the clear bag requirement that will still be enforced this year at all athletic events. The district said the clear bag policy enhances public safety and minimizes time spent searching bags at security checkpoints.

Bags allowed inside Owasso Stadium include:

• Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12" x 6" x 12"
• One-gallon clear plastic freezer bags (Ziploc bag or similar)
• Small clutch bags with or without a handle or strap that do not exceed 4.5" x 6.5" (approximately the size of a hand)

OPS said exceptions will be made for medically necessary items and diaper bags.

Bags not allowed inside Owasso Stadium include:

• Purses larger than a clutch bag
• Briefcases
• Backpacks
• Fanny packs that are not clear or exceed the size restriction
• Luggage of any kind
• Computer or camera bags
• Binocular bags or cases
