Animal Aid of Tulsa shares low-cost resources for pet owners

TULSA, Okla. — Animal Aid of Tulsa shared some resources for pet-owners facing financial hardship in Tulsa.

The animal welfare nonprofit said financial hardship is one of the main reasons for the high number of stray and abandoned animals in Tulsa. This has resulted in overburdened pet shelters in Tulsa and surrounding communities.

FOX23 has covered this issue in Broken Arrow , Sand Springs , and Sapulpa in just the last two months. Financial hardship can lead to shelters being over capacity as people struggle to afford care for their pets.

To help families who might have to choose between feeding their loved ones or their pets, Animal Aid of Tulsa shared the following resources:

• Oklahoma Alliance for Animals Pet Food Pantry: Families going through tough financial times can get free dry dog and cat food. The hours of operation are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursdays at the nonprofit near 71st and Sheridan. Pet food is donated and served on a first come, first serve basis.
