2024 Tulsa State Fair: FOX23 tries new food items

TULSA, Okla. — FOX23 tried new food at the Tulsa Sate Fair this year.

The first stop was Rick’s Pizza. They came all the way from Florida for the fair. Tristin Ukmir told FOX23 about their 'flaming hot pickle pizza' — pizza with pickles and hot Cheetos.

“It’s been number one, we’re trying to figure out how to make number one even better, hit 'em with a hot Cheeto pickle pizza,” Ukmir said.

The next stop was a pickle pretzel with Sandi Brackett, owner of Brackett Concessions.

“We just kind of play with things and my coworker over here goes, 'pickles are a really big thing this year, lets try it,'” Brackett said.

To take a small break from pickles, we stopped by the Lucky Dumpling. They have french fries with Korean beef and new luau pineapples, which are like a pineapple donut. Brandon Tae with the Lucky Dumpling explained they love coming to the fair.

“I just love interacting with everyone out here, it's such a fun time, whenever I get down time I love going and eating at all the food stalls,” Tae said.

Mrs. Lively's Cajun Connection has new food too. Kevin Lively told FOX23 about their new food, 'gator balls.'

“What you have is our alligator balls, which is the tail meat of the gator with Monterey jack jalapenos, different seasonings and spices,” Lively said.

The last stop was Amber Vandewarker with Craft Lemonade to grab a pickle lemonade.

“My husband loves pickles to the point I'm always buying them, we always play with food to figure out what we’re going to bring out to the fair, and him loving pickles, we already had a lemonade stand, it was a natural fit," Vandewarker said.

There’s so much to see and taste at the fair this year — the vendors said to keep an open mind and branch out of your comfort zone.
