MUSKOGEE, Okla. — The Muskogee Tourism Authority announced the launch of Film Muskogee, a film office designed to position the city as a destination for film production and drive economic growth.

Film Muskogee will be the eighth local film office to be established in Oklahoma.

The Muskogee Tourism Authority said the film office marks a significant milestone in the city's effort to boost tourism and create jobs through the community's natural beauty and scenic charm.

"The establishment of this office is a game changer for our city," said Evelyn Hibbs, chair of the Muskogee Tourism Authority, "This initiative positions Muskogee as a global destination for filmmakers, creating a ripple effect that will strengthen our economy, benefit local businesses, and create opportunities for our residents. It's more than just a boost to our profile, it's an investment in the future of Muskogee."

Bryce Marshall, a videographer from eastern Oklahoma, will oversee operations of the office. Marshall will lead connections between filmmakers, local businesses and talent in the area.

"We're excited about the future of filmmaking in Muskogee," said Marshall. "This is just the beginning. We look forward to collaborating with filmmakers and showcasing Muskogee as a destination for world-class productions."

The Muskogee Tourism Authority said the office will provide services such as location scouting, permit assistance and connections to incentives.

The Oklahoma Film and Music Office said film and television production generated over $170 million and created 7,900 across the state in fiscal year 2021.

"I applaud the Muskogee Tourism Authority on the launch of their local film office," said Jeanette Stanton, director of the Oklahoma Film & Music Office, "In addition to their 'Film Friendly' certification, the establishment of their own film office provides an additional layer of support, resources, and opportunities for film and television productions in Oklahoma. This move also enhances Muskogee's potential for economic impact and workforce development."
