    10th anniversary of 'Cheer for a Cure' competition held at UMAC

    TULSA, Okla. — Hundreds of people gathered to attend the 10th anniversary for Cheer for a Cure.

    Due to the size of the event, it was moved from Catoosa to the UMAC at Union High School.

    10th Annual 'Cheer for a Cure' competition held at UMAC this year

    The competition started at 8:30 a.m. and ended at 5 p.m. Awards went until 6:30 p.m.

    The annual cheer competition has cheer teams competing to raise money for Oklahoma Project Woman.

    The program provides free mammograms and surgical services for those who can't afford it.

    "Every year, we do break records and every year, we hope to give more and more proceeds to Oklahoma Project Woman and just really try and help fight breast cancer," said Rachel Hulse. "Just really have a good time with the cheerleaders and the athletes, so we really appreciate everybody coming out."

    Broken Arrow, Union, Owasso, Sand Springs, Verdigris, Collinsville, Coweta, and Bartlesville were among the schools with youth teams competing (1st - 8th grade).

    Coweta 6th Grade won Grand Champion.
