Humidity levels have been creeping higher since Saturday and we are going to be back in the soup for today as well as the week ahead. We will also be dealing with a series of waves moving around the Bermuda high. It is building into the Southeastern US. A southwest flow aloft is bringing up ripples in the flow. It will not be raining all the time but there will be some downpours and a few heavier thunderstorms to deal with during the week ahead.

We are still holding on to relatively dry and and relatively low dew points in the mid to upper 50s. That is still keeping things rather comfortable and it is certainly better than dew points in the low 70s and temperatures in the 90s. We will see sunshine today. There have been upper troughs rotating around an upper low in Eastern Canada and you can see it clearly on the satellite loop but most of the clouds with this are well to the northeast so we should be no worse than partly sunny today and at times mostly sunny. High temperatures will be in the low to middle 80s;

A hurricane watch has been issued for part of Florida as a strengthening tropical system, soon to become Tropical Storm Debby, approaches the state over the weekend. Tropical Depression Four is forecast to strengthen while moving northward along the Florida Peninsula's Gulf coast this weekend, spreading rain, gusty winds and severe thunderstorms slowly northward. AccuWeather meteorologists warn that not only may the feature become a hurricane, but it may also later stall along the southeastern United States coast next week.

While the U.S. East Coast is lashed by flooding rain and gusty winds from Tropical Storm Debby, there is also a chance for tropical development in the southwestern Gulf of Mexico.

The system we have been monitoring gained a bit of strength and became a tropical depression late last night. Tropical Depression 4 will emerge over the Florida Straits on Saturday and travel over the very warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The track has shifted westward, with a more pronounced curve which keeps it over the warm waters a bit longer and gives it more time to become stronger. It also delayed its landfall, and it is now expected to make landfall early on Monday morning in the Big Bend region, as a strong tropical storm or category 1 hurricane. A hurricane watch is in effect for the Big Bend. This means hurricane conditions will start within the next 48 hours. A tropical storm warning is in effect from Southwest Florida through the Tampa Bay area to Inglis.

We continue to move along in this nice weather pattern. The northwest flow does push upper troughs through the Northeast. Yesterday we saw scattered showers pop up in a few places as the upper trough went by. While the temperatures at the surface have been on the warm-ish side, temperatures aloft a colder and that creates a bit of instability. Today should be a day of sunshine with just a few passing clouds. Highs will reach 80 to 85 in most places. I'm leaving the mention of an isolated shower out of the forecast. Most lows tonight will be in the upper 50s inland and low to mid 60s coast and warmer urban areas.

Sandy Paws Rescue Inc., a foster-based rescue organization in Massachusetts, has recently introduced a dog named Blazer who is looking for his forever home. According to the nonprofit rescue organization, Blazer has had quite a journey. “Blazer was one of 7 dogs ‘saved’ by another rescue down in Texas and when he was just a young puppy. Then, he was abandoned by this ‘rescue’ and left in a boarding kennel for 9 months. He is now a little over a year old, and 55lbs.” Thanks to Sandy Paws Rescue Inc. for stepping in to help Blazer, he is now on the path to finding a family to love him.
