WACO, Texas ( FOX 44 ) — Baylor soccer opened play at Betty Lou with a bang on Sunday night, coasting to a 5-2 win over St. Bonaventure to secure its first win of the 2024 season.

Hannah Augustyn got things started in the 18th minute, drilling a shot into the bottom left corner past the keeper to get the Bears on the board, 1-0.

Ashley Merrill picked up right where she left off last year at home, scoring in bunches with two goals in less than three minutes as Baylor took a 4-0 lead into the half.

The Bears added one more courtesy of Hallie Augustyn in the 61st minute but surrendered two goals before the final whistle to take the win.

Baylor takes the trip to Hawaii for its next two contests, first facing off against Bowling Green on Thursday, August 22nd at 9:30 p.m.
