SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Sharp HealthCare employees took to the picket line Wednesday, holding signs and chanting outside of Sharp Grossmont Hospital in La Mesa.

Picketers say these gatherings can be expected to continue every Wednesday remaining in the month of August at various Sharp facilities throughout San Diego County.

This week’s protest follows another one that took place last week at the company’s headquarters . This comes as workers have gone more than a year without a contract agreement.

The employees, including lab assistants, ultrasound techs, nursing assistants, pharmacists and many roles outside of registered nurses, are all raising concerns over staffing shortages, safety concerns and low wages for San Diego’s cost of living.

To date, an agreement between the parties has not been made. A timeline of when a deal will be reached remains in limbo.
