SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — The peak of the warming trend led to a daily heat record in Ramona, but the hot weather will subside as the weekend nears.

Ramona hit a daytime high of 102 degrees Tuesday afternoon, beating a previous daily maximum temperature record for Aug. 20 set back in 1982.

Many other areas got close to heat records as above temperatures were recorded across San Diego County.

The high pressure responsible for the early week warm up will start to crumble under a troughing pattern over the Pacific Northwest. Wednesday will still be warmer than normal, but temperatures will drop from that point on.

Daytime highs at the coast mid-week will hit the upper 70s for the beach low 90s for inland valleys and upper 80s for mountains.

The weather pattern change will also feature drier, windier and cloudier conditions for the second half of the work week into Saturday. Marine layer will reorganize and extend farther inland each evening.
