SusieCakes opening new location in North County

CARLSBAD, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — In the mood for some homemade-style sweets? A Los Angeles-based bakery will be opening its second location at The Forum Carlsbad.

SusieCakes , known for its colorful cupcakes and old-fashioned layer cakes, is set to open this weekend at 1935 Calle Barcelona, the company said in a press release.

“We are thrilled to open our newest location at the Forum Carlsbad, a vibrant hub for shopping, dining, and community gatherings throughout the year,” said SusieCakes Founder and CEO, Susan Sarich. “This location is a perfect fit for our bakery, and I’m excited to bring our delicious custom cakes, cupcakes and other treats to this beautiful space. We love the Carlsbad community and are eager to provide our loyal guests with the convenience of picking up their favorite treats while enjoying all that the Forum Carlsbad has to offer.”

Sarich founded the business in 2006 in Los Angeles’ Brentwood neighborhood. Her inspiration is derived from nostalgic memories of baking with her grandmothers Mildred and Madeline.

On Saturday, a grand opening celebration will be held from 12- 3 p.m. The event will feature samples of assorted baked goods, music, face painting, a balloon artist, a chance to win free cake for a year, a grab bag gift with every purchase and more family-friendly activities.

Arrive early starting at 11 a.m. as the first 50 guests in line will receive a a SusieCakes-branded coffee mug.

SusieCakes has another location in Carlsbad at 7610 Via Campanile, Suite 144. They can also be found in other parts of Southern and Northern California, as well as Texas and Tennessee.

The new Carlsbad location will operate Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
