SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — After a hot and humid start to the week, conditions will turn cooler, drier and windier for Friday and Saturday.

Daytime temperatures Friday and Saturday have dropped to right around normal or slightly below with Saturday being the coolest day of the week so far.

Afternoon temperatures Saturday will max out in mid 70s for the beaches, low 80s for inland valleys, mid 70s for mountains and just shy of triple digits for the deserts.

A deeper marine layer will bring low clouds from the coast to inland valleys Saturday morning.

An unseasonably cold low-pressure system off the coast of the Pacific Northwest is behind the cool down and will be responsible for windier conditions, especially for mountains and deserts. Onshore flow will be stronger Friday than Saturday, but still breezy westerly winds are expected.

A gradual warming trend will help rebound the temperatures for early next week.
