SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Excessive Heat Warnings take effect for Southern California inland areas starting Wednesday through Friday as a major heat wave develops.

Hottest days are forecasted to be Thursday and Friday when afternoon temps could run seven to 15 degrees above normal.

Widespread moderate to major heat risk is expected for inland areas, especially as overnight temperatures will remain much warmer than normal as well.

For beaches, a heat advisory takes place the second half of the work week where daytime highs could get close to 90 degrees.

The area will get close to record breaking temperatures, but the heatwaves of 2020 and 2022 during this month were some of the hottest in the state’s record, so it will be hard to beat.
